ABOUT FICCI

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce Phils. Inc. (FICCI) is one of the pioneer ethnic Chambers of Commerce in the Philippines, engaged in promoting the business and social interests of the Filipino – Indian Community in the Philippines. It has worked for the enhancement of relations and the integration of Indian business interests in the Philippine economy and society. It is one of the premiere business organizations in the Philippines.

 

HISTORY

FICCI started from a group of Indian businessmen drawn together in the spirit of brotherhood to establish ties with their homeland, the desire to render service to their countrymen, and their adopted country. It was formerly organized and registered in 1951 under the then American regime in the Philippines. It is one of the oldest Indian Chambers outside of India.

The nine pioneering business men who founded the chamber to facilitate their mutual integration with the local economy where Mr. Navalrai Jethmal, Mr. Genomal T. Verhomal, Mr. Hashumal Gianchand, Mr. Hemandas Vaswani, Mr. Gagoomal Assanmal, Mr. Chandumal Mirani, Mr.Bhojraj Hiranand, Mr. Ramchand Gopaldas and Mr. Kotumal Chelaram.

Today, as a formal organization, it represents the major business interests in the Filipino – Indian business sector and has been held in high esteem for its active involvement in the business sectors throughout the country.

The FICCI will be the premier business Chamber and front runner of Indian trade, investment and presence in the Philippines.

To build bridges between all government and private agencies, all international bodies present locally or internationally in pursuit of our vision and under the mantle of our credo

 

CREDO

Being faithful servants of the Almighty, we believe our paramount responsibility is to be of service to our members. In meeting their needs we constantly strive to provide information and avenues for business growth and development through national & international linkages. In valuing professionalism, everything we do must come from excellence. In respecting their dignity & value, we endeavor to make every member feel free to express their thoughts & voice constructive sentiments for the benefit of the general body. We also encourage unity & brotherhood within the Filipino-Indian community to enhance harmony & goodwill. We are socially responsible to the community in which we live & work and seek guidance and grace from the Almighty in upholding this Credo.

 

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

For over 60 years since its founding, the FICCI has been diligent in pursuing these aims & objectives:

• To enhance the prestige of the Filipino-Indian business community in the Philippines.
• To foster a stronger sense of brotherhood among its members and the Filipino people.
• To promote cordial business relations with Filipinos and other business communities in the Philippines and Internationally
• To respond fully to the needs of a progressive economy and cooperate in every way with the government of the Philippines
• To promote the business and social interests of the Filipino – Indian Community in the Philippines.

 

FICCI ACTIVITIES

The Federation holds a membership meeting every month, wherein we invite distinguished speakers from various sectors of society – government, business, social work, etc. to share their experiences and enlighten the membership on topics of special or relevant interests.

The FICCI also conducts & sponsors a number of charitable & socio-civic activities. Its pioneering & longest social responsibility activity is its Eye Camp which it has conducted all over the Philippines.
